Meet Glover Property Management, Inc.

Tell us about Glover Property Management, Inc. and how you help your clients. Glover Property Management Inc. is a locally based (since 1983) commercial property management company focused on supporting small businesses and professionals in Marblehead. Over the past several years, we’ve seen a significant shift in the commercial market, how people work, what they need from a space, and how flexible they need to be in order to succeed. We recognized early on that the traditional, rigid commercial model no longer served many local businesses.

In response, we intentionally adapted our approach. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all leases, we work closely with tenants to provide flexibility—whether that’s right-sizing a space, allowing thoughtful renovations, or structuring lease terms that support growth and change. Many of the businesses we work with are service-, wellness-, and community-oriented, and their spaces need to function in very specific ways to support their work.

Our role goes beyond managing buildings. We aim to be a partner to our tenants, helping them shape spaces that truly fit their business model and allowing them to stay local as they grow. By staying responsive to market changes and prioritizing flexibility, we’re able to support both our tenants and the broader Marblehead business community in a meaningful, sustainable way.

What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received? As a team, the best business advice we’ve embraced is to stay flexible and truly listen – to the market and to the people we work with. Commercial real estate isn’t static, and neither are the businesses that rely on it. What matters most is being willing to adapt as needs change.

By paying close attention to our tenants and how they operate, we’ve learned that thoughtful flexibility, whether in lease structure, space design, or timing—often makes the difference between a business simply occupying space and truly thriving in it.

That mindset has guided how we work together as a team: focusing on long-term relationships, practical solutions, and supporting local businesses in ways that allow them to grow at their own pace. When you listen first and stay adaptable, better decisions tend to follow.

What is your favorite spot in Marblehead, and why? As a team, one of our favorite places in Marblehead is Old Town Marblehead. It captures everything we love about the town—the walkability, the history, the small businesses, and the sense of connection you feel just moving through it.

Old Town reflects the way Marblehead works at its best: people running into one another, supporting local shops, and doing business in a way that feels personal and rooted. It’s also where many of the professionals and small businesses we work with want to be—close to the community they serve and part of the town’s everyday rhythm. That sense of place is exactly what we try to preserve and support through our work.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you? The company Owner, Edward Moore, takes a very hands-on, long-term view when it comes to the businesses in our buildings. Rather than focusing only on real estate, he’s deeply interested in how local businesses grow, adapt, and succeed over time. He is committed to supporting businesses that serve the Marblehead community in meaningful ways.

What isn’t always visible is the flexibility behind the scenes: creative lease options, openness to space modifications, and a willingness to adapt as businesses evolve. That approach reflects a belief that when local businesses are given room to grow in ways that make sense for them, the entire community benefits.

That includes working with tenants like The Power of Speech, led by Jessica Brown, whose work supports children and families through speech, occupational, and physical therapy—services that have a direct impact on early development and education. It also includes Disciplined Alpha, led by Kevin Shea at 50 Doaks Lane, where the space is structured to allow collaboration with other professionals and support responsible financial guidance within the community.

In both cases, the goal isn’t just to rent space, but to allow flexibility—so tenants can shape their environment around how they work and who they serve. That may mean adaptable layouts, nontraditional lease structures, or allowing space to evolve as the business grows. What people don’t always see is that this flexibility is intentional. It reflects a belief that when businesses doing good work are supported in the right way, they’re more likely to stay local, succeed long-term, and strengthen the community as a whole.

Meet the CARLSON GROUP

Meet the CARLSON GROUP

An interview with Jean Carlson

Jean, tell us about CARLSON GROUP and how it got started. I have been in the real estate brokerage business most of my life, over 50 years. My mother was an agent in Maine, and I married Richard Carlson who owned a real estate company, Carlson Real Estate, one of the largest in New England. My two children grew up in a real estate family. After Carlson Real Estate was sold, we formed a new three-generation family group (son, daughter, daughter-in-law and grandson) of experienced Realtors, the CARLSON GROUP (Jean Carlson, Sean Gildea, Jodi Gildea, Traci Howe and Wells Howe). We then joined Sagan Harborside Sotheby’s International Realty because it is the #1 most profiled luxury real estate brand in the world. We all live in Marblehead and work together to service the entire North Shore. We’re proud to hold the record for closing the highest-priced residential property in Marblehead – “Let our family help your family with your real estate needs.”

What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received? Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, and the way you make others feel is your trademark.

What is your favorite spot in Marblehead, and why? I love the sight of Abbot Hall with its clock tower that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hall serves as a beacon for our town and is the center of our local government. I love the original painting, “The Spirit of ‘76”, by Archibald Willard that hangs inside Abbot Hall. There is also a maritime museum and many displays of Marblehead’s unique history which I find very interesting.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you? I am a member of The Mayflower Society. Although I was born in Maine, I am a direct descendant of the Mayflower Pilgrim, Isaac Allerton, who started one of the first fishing enterprises in Marblehead in 1629. The street, Allerton Place, at Glover Landing, is named after him. In researching my ancestry, I discovered that I must have a lot of distant cousins in town. I am a direct descendant of Marbleheaders’—Adams, Gatchell, Hawkes, Hooper and Peach.

Meet Gingle-Lerman Realty Group

Meet Gingle-Lerman Realty Group

Roberta, tell us about your real estate business partnership. Marcie and I both became Realtors in the early nineties at what was then known as Hunneman Real Estate in Swampscott. We became fast friends and soon realized we had a similar, strong work ethic. We both found it satisfying to match buyers with the right house and help their dreams of owning a home become a reality. With our combined business knowledge and individual skill sets that complimented each other, we realized we made excellent partners as well. So, in 2018, the Gingle-Lerman Realty Group partnership was formed. We pride ourselves on being with our clients every step of the way to the closing and beyond. Our satisfied clients and successful sales along with our consistent awards tell our story. We’re “Your GPS in Real Estate”.

What is the best piece of business advice you ever received? We agree that the best business advice we’ve received was, “Don’t judge anyone by their appearance”.

What is your favorite spot in Marblehead and why?

  • Roberta: Old Burial Hill, I love the view, the stillness, the history and stories written on the stones of the people that once lived in Marblehead.
  • Marcie: Lower Washington Street and Old Town because of the history, the architecture, and the beautiful, sometimes hidden gardens.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

  • Roberta: I write historical romance novels that take place centuries past and usually in Scotland.
  • Marcie: I want to raise miniature pygmy goats when, and if, I retire.
