Jessica, tell us about your business and how you help/serve your clients. Collins Home Watch is a fully insured boutique home watch service with the goal of providing peace of mind for homeowners who are leaving for a period of time. We provide consistent in-person interior and exterior home walkthroughs with add on services like plant watering, post-departure trash removal, car checks/start ups. We report back to our clients after each visit to verify the condition of their home.
What inspired you to start your business? Collins Home Watch evolved from Jessica’s hometown connection to Marblehead, MA and Brandon’s career as a trusted realtor on Boston’s North Shore. Through Brandon’s realty work and property management experience combined with periodic home-watching for family and friends, we identified a need for experienced and trustworthy home watch professionals in Marblehead.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned in running a business? We’ve learned about the importance of networking with other Home Watch businesses. Connecting with Home Watch businesses across the country has been integral to establishing best practices like best serving our clients by listening to their needs, clear expectation setting and fostering an open line of communication to build trust and grow our business.
What do you love most about Marblehead? It’s beauty and historical charm! We love how every season has something wonderful to offer and we think that it is a very special place to raise our family.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you? We started lobstering as a family hobby a few years ago. We drop 4-6 traps each summer and our success is highly variable but we have a lot of fun with it!
